The Chance
I was addicted to drugs for more than 10 years. When I was only 11 years old, I tried marijuana for the first time because my friends were smoking it. At first I didn't like it because it made me feel dizzy. However, over time I came to like it. It numbed me and gave me temporary satisfaction. In high school, I smoked regularly, sniffed glue, tried shabu, and slipped into addiction. I graduated from high school and enrolled in college, but my addiction got worse, so I dropped out. I thought that was great, because I wanted to enjoy my FREEDOM. Just to be free and to do what I wanted – that was pretty much my only goal!
At the Turning Point
During this time, life at home was also a mess! There were constant arguments as I wasn't the only addict in our family. My brother and my father were also junkies. Our lives were on the brink of destruction. Hopelessness was a constant companion. I sold drugs with my father and brother. We became famous in town.
Then came the turning point in my life - my father was murdered. The motive for the murder: drugs. It was a hard blow and the darkest time in my life! I loved my father so much. I thought, "That's it, the coffin is nailed shut, our lives are doomed and I'll be next.” I had absolutely no hope.
The Love of the Father
Then Jesus came into the picture! A cousin knew about the Set Free Center, my family inquired and I was accepted into the rehabilitation program. I met the FATHER'S LOVE and it changed me completely. It healed me and set me free! I was given a new perspective, a new hope. I truly became a new creation when I gave change a CHANCE. I began to dream again and those dreams are increasingly becoming reality! After some time I became a staff member of HELP International and had the opportunity to attend our REVIVAL SCHOOL in Germany. My family got saved and God gave me a family of my own – a beautiful and loving wife and a precious son.
Not finished yet
All of this fills me with awe at what Jesus has done in my life and in the life of my family. And he's not done yet! Jesus continues to walk with me and I with him – I would not want anything else. What he has begun in my life, he will finish ... All for the glory of Jesus!
