What we experience with God

Small acts of kindness

While visiting the prayer mountain north of Kitgum, we met the mayor of a village. We gave him a bible in his native language, which he appreciated a lot. By that, he opened up and told us about the well in the village, which broke a while ago. Thus, the women had to walk long distances to fetch water from the water holes, which only contain water in the rainy season. We felt his love for his village community when he asked us for help with tears in his eyes.
We wanted to help, but encouraged him to get the village involved, too. After we left the place, we received a message from him: They put some money together, and every household would contribute to the repair costs.

With our friend Vincent, we bought the spare parts for the well in town and took the village. Everyone was waiting for us already. With our combined effort, we fixed the well, and people jumped for joy when it finally began pumping fresh, clean water again.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16This small act of kindness with the well opened a door for the Gospel in that place. We could share about Jesus, who gives living water, openly - in the village council, in families’ homes, in church, simply where we meet people.
