Made New!

On May 3, 2023, I walked out of a place that had held me captive for too long: prison. When I left prison, I took the first step in turning my life around. With hope in my heart, I entered a halfway house called Hope House, where I would begin my journey to redemption. At Hope House, I met two incredible women who would become central to my newfound faith: Maddie and Franzi. Unfortunately, I ran away from Hope House and found out that I was pregnant. The news was overwhelming, but somehow it gave my life purpose. I felt a deep desire to create a future, not only for myself, but for the child I would bring into the world.

Prayer in the Supermarket

One day at the grocery store, I felt the urge to pray. I whispered a simple request to God, "Please let me run into Maddie or Franzi. Help me reconnect with them." As I walked down the aisle, I couldn't shake the feeling that God was listening to me. Moments later, I turned a corner and there she was – Maddie! Maddie and Franzi welcomed me back into their lives with open arms. They invited me to church, and each time I went, I felt my spirit lifted. One Sunday the preacher was talking about surrendering to God. He asked everyone to raise their hand if they were willing to receive him into their lives. I felt the urge to respond, and despite my fears and doubts, I raised my hand.

At that moment I felt a wave of peace wash over me and fill the emptiness that had been there for so long. I was ready to accept His love. After that powerful moment, I took another important step: I was baptized. As I emerged from the water, I felt a weight lift from my shoulders. I was born again and washed clean of my past mistakes. It was a beautiful experience, with Maddie and Franzi by my side cheering me on.

Since that day, my life has been filled with joy and purpose. I have built a community of faith, surrounded by people who lift me up and support me on my journey. Reflecting on my journey, I am filled with gratitude. God has transformed my life in ways I never thought possible. What started as a desperate plea for connection has turned into a beautiful web of faith, friendship, and love. I’ve learned that no matter how far away you may feel from God, He is always waiting for you with open arms.
