What we experience with God

A roof for the widow

We visited the North of Uganda again and had been living for a couple of weeks in a South-Sudanese community, when we got to know an elderly widow who lived nearby. She was passing our house almost daily and kept on blessing us with food that she just had harvested: first cassava roots, then sweet potatoes. One morning I said to the Heavenly Father: “ I’d love to eat maize combs roasted on fire.” And guess what, that same morning the old widow came along with fresh maize. God is just wonderful! We were so impressed because this widow did not seem to have a lot for herself, nevertheless she joyously was giving away from the little she had.

Later we were able to visit her home and realized that she was sleeping in a hut with her six grandchildren that had a leaking roof. When people from Germany came to visit us, this dear widow was blessed back by the Lord. We were able to buy material to set up a brand new grass roof for her hut. Our friend Anthony built the house with his joung men, while the widow was cooking a meal for everyone. She was so happy and praised her heavenly Father. This story taught us a lot about giving.
